Gucci

Explore 133 Gucci fragrances — notes, longevity, sillage and community ratings, matched to how you want to smell. The house dates from 1921, founded by Guccio Gucci.

About the house

Guccio Gucci founded the house in Florence in 1921. His first shop stood on Via della Vigna Nuova and sold imported leather luggage.

Family control ended in 1993, when Investcorp acquired the remaining 50% from Maurizio Gucci. Six years later PPR, renamed Kering in 2013, took a controlling stake in the Gucci group and bought Yves Saint Laurent outright. Sources differ on the size of that stake, giving it as 40% or as 42%. Tom Ford, who became creative director in 1994, left in April 2004 after a dispute with PPR over control of the group.

The fragrance side has changed hands as well. Coty, which acquired 41 beauty brands from Procter & Gamble in 2015 and 2016, holds the Gucci Beauty licence. Kering set up Kering Beauté in 2023, and in October 2025 it agreed to sell its beauty division to L'Oréal in a deal reported at about $4 billion.

Under creative director Alessandro Michele, Alberto Morillas composed Gucci Bloom, one of the first two Gucci fragrances of that period. A reviewer at Now Smell This calls it a mélange of flowers and not a complex fragrance. Morillas also composed Gucci Guilty Absolute, described as the house's first men's fragrance under Michele.

Recent launches belong to The Alchemist's Garden collection, and flankers to Bloom and Flora were still appearing in 2025 and 2026.

Signature notes

These notes show up in Gucci fragrances at least twice as often as in the catalogue as a whole. We worked this out from each fragrance's listed notes. It is not how the house describes itself.
