Our take

Illusion opens with a soft rush of cotton candy that feels airy and light. Juniper berries add a cool, slightly sharp edge that keeps the sugar from becoming flat. Dried fruits sit underneath, giving the opening a chewy, sun-warmed texture that lingers as the first minutes pass.

Cloves and saffron take over with a dry, peppery heat. The rose here is thin and metallic, more a shimmer than a flower, letting the spices lead. Cedar and amber in the base pull the scent toward something resinous and warm, while vanilla smooths the edges without making the blend feel creamy.

The scent stays near the body and does not push outward across a space. It holds its shape for a sensible span before the notes begin to soften and merge. It suits a dim room where conversation is close and the air is warm, fitting easily into a night spent indoors rather than a bright afternoon.

Gurjan balsam and cabreuva add a faint leathery trace that some will find harsh and synthetic. The metallic rose note can feel thin and out of place against the heavier spices. People who want a clean, polished floral wood should look elsewhere, because this composition stays rough and a little unbalanced.
