Imperial opens with orange and pink pepper, a bright citrus spark that carries a mild, clean heat. It does not linger in that high register for long before the heart notes begin to take over the composition.
Guaiac wood and chestnut form the center of the fragrance. The chestnut adds a nutty, slightly roasted depth that feels dry rather than sweet, while the guaiac wood brings a firm, resinous texture. As the scent develops, the base notes of vanilla, Peru balsam, and cashmere wood emerge. The vanilla here is heavy and dark, supported by the sticky, resinous quality of the balsam and the smooth, soft finish of the cashmere wood. The overall impression is woody, balsamic, and distinctly sweet.
The powdery and amber accords wrap around the vanilla, creating a thick, enveloping scent that feels appropriate for a dimly lit room or a cool evening walk. The floral hint in the background is subtle and does not disrupt the woody focus. The main limitation is the heavy powdery accord, which can feel slightly dusty and may overwhelm the citrus and nutty facets for those who prefer a cleaner, crisper finish.
