Our take

Libertine Neroli opens with a bitter snap of petitgrain and bergamot, like twisting a green citrus rind over a hot stone. The Tunisian neroli emerges not as a pristine white floral but as something slightly bruised, wrapped in iris powder and geranium’s green bite. This is no clean, soapy cologne. The heart is where Francesca Bianchi asserts her signature: a floral that refuses to behave.

Then the base descends. Oakmoss anchors it in damp earth, while leather and animal notes creep in like warm skin after a long night. Labdanum and benzoin add a honeyed resin that never quite sweetens the snarling, dirty dry down. The overall character is a sun-baked leather jacket tossed over a mossy wall in a Tunisian courtyard, still smelling of last night’s sweat and yesterday’s gardenia. It feels natural, uncompromisingly niche, heavy but not cloying. The longevity (4.01) is reliable. The sillage (3.36) sits close, a whisper rather than a shout, which actually suits its intimacy.

Who should wear this? Those who want their neroli corrupted, who find joy in the animalic underbelly of florals. Skip it if you crave fresh, transparent citruses or if the idea of a dirty chypre makes you wince. Wear it in spring or fall, daytime for a subversive edge, nighttime for unequivocal seduction. Just don’t expect to smell like everyone else. 😏
