Light Blue Forever opens with a sharp, almost candied burst of blood orange and lemon, the green apple lending a tart crunch that feels like biting into fruit straight from a market stall. Olivier Cresp knows how to make citrus sing, but here it’s a short-lived overture. Within minutes the heart blooms with orange blossom and a vague white floral veil, soft and slightly powdery, before the base turns warm and woody with cedar and cashmeran. The white musk carries a faint animalic hum, a subtle skin-like warmth that keeps the composition from tipping into sheer soapiness. The overall effect is like a white cotton shirt left to dry under a Mediterranean sun, the breeze carrying traces of citrus peel, laundry musk, and wildflowers from the hillside.
It’s unmistakably mainstream, bright and sweet in a way that feels both fresh and a little synthetic around the edges, but the powdery dryness of the dry down saves it from being cloying. The numbers tell an honest story: longevity clocks in under three hours, sillage barely reaches beyond arm’s length. You’ll need to reapply liberally if you want it to last through an afternoon, and this limits its usefulness.
