Our take

Maya opens with a tart, green snap, black currant and violet leaf colliding like a sharp breeze through wet leaves. Then the heart blooms, iris and damask rose and jasmine, but this is no lush bouquet. The iris holds things back, powdery and cool, while the rose feels almost metallic, and the jasmine adds a faint indolic buzz. The base settles into a soft, earthy chypre, patchouli and oakmoss with a whisper of sandalwood, though the whole thing sits closer to the skin than you might hope. This fragrance reminds me of a rain soaked violet garden where someone left a silk scarf behind, the fabric carrying a lingering trace of flowers and damp earth, elegant but already starting to dissolve into the air.

That’s the honest weakness here. Longevity barely clears two and a half hours on most people, and sillage is a ghost. The rating reflects a solid but unremarkable composition, a perfectly pleasant chypre that doesn’t push hard. It leans natural and refined, more niche in spirit than mainstream, but with a quietness that can feel underwhelming. Maya suits someone who wants a gentle, grown up floral that stays close, a fragrance for a spring morning or a fall afternoon when you want to feel polished without announcing yourself. Skip it if you crave projection or sweetness, because it glides past like a courteous stranger and leaves almost no footprint.
