Character
Samar answers the need for a citrus herbal scent that stays grounded. Basil and bergamot lead the way, bright and peppery rather than sweet. Violet leaf adds a crisp green edge that keeps the opening from feeling like a standard shower gel. The mandarin is present but restrained, offering a soft roundness that supports the herbs instead of dominating them.
Lavender enters soon after, blending with sage to create a clean, slightly medicinal freshness. This is not a loud or dramatic fragrance. It feels composed and practical, like a shirt pressed and ready for a morning meeting. The vetiver in the base pulls the scent downward, giving it an earthy, dry finish that avoids the sugary trap many modern masculine releases fall into. Atlas cedar reinforces that dryness with a smooth wood presence.
The tradeoff here is character. Samar is pleasant and wearable, but it lacks a distinct personality. The patchouli is muted, and the apple note barely registers, leaving the composition feeling a bit safe and predictable. It does what it sets out to do without ever surprising the wearer.
