War and Peace III Attar
Fragrance notes
Character
War and Peace III Attar opens with a thick, resinous amber that feels heavy and slightly sticky. The material leans dark and deep, providing a warm foundation that holds the rest of the composition together. There is an immediate sense of density in the air around the wearer, as the resins add a sharp, slightly pine-like edge to the otherwise sweet opening.
The floral heart does not bring lightness. White rose and Taif rose sit deep within the mixture, their fresh petals muted by the heavy butter and orris. The orris adds a distinct powdery quality that coats the roses, making them feel dusty and aged rather than bright. Patchouli anchors this section with an earthy, damp vibration that prevents the butter from becoming too smooth.
Base notes of Indian oud and natural musk dominate the drydown. The oud provides a dry, woody texture, while the musk amplifies the animalic elements. Synthetic civet and castoreum create a rough, leathery roughness that is quite pronounced. Oakmoss and vetiver add a final touch of green, forest-floor dampness to the amber and resins that return from the start.
The scent creates a mood suited for a dim, quiet room where the air is cool. It feels appropriate for moments of solitude when the environment is still and the light is low. The intensity of the castoreum and civet may overwhelm those who prefer clean, soapy profiles, as the animalic accord here is unapologetically strong and persistent throughout the wear.
