Our take

Wavechild opens with a bright, zesty citrus peel that feels less like fresh juice and more like the rind oil sprayed from a bottle you’d find in a beachside cocktail shaker. The orange and lemon are sharp, almost synthetic in that deliberately playful way, before the heart rushes in with a watermelon Jolly Rancher sweetness and a whisper of coconut that’s more suntan lotion than tropical fruit. Then it dries down to a curious animalic amber streak — the ambergris and cacao twist the sweetness into something vaguely sweaty and saline, like a forgotten cocktail melting on a hot deck railing.

The overall impression is that of a half-melted popsicle dropped into warm sand: sticky, synthetic, and oddly compelling. It’s unapologetically loud in its opening, but the longevity (3.2) and sillage (2.6) tell the real story — this is a short-lived wave that crashes fast. You get maybe two hours of projection before it clings to your skin as a faint, lactonic memory. It leans heavily synthetic and niche-punk, not trying to smell natural or refined.

Wavechild is for someone who wants to smell like they just stumbled out of a beach party at 4 p.m. on a scorching summer day, not for anyone expecting sophistication or office appropriateness. Skip it if you hate loud fruity scents or need something to last through dinner. Wear it in blazing heat, on a weekend afternoon, and reapply freely — that’s the only way to catch the wave before it washes out.
