Our take

White Bigarade is not an easy wear. The leather and animalic threads running through it can feel abrasive, and the Chennellian scream of orange and neroli will put off anyone who likes their citrus soft. It takes a certain tolerance for sharp edges, and even then it can feel like the composition is arguing with itself.

This is a scent for gray mornings and the first cold weeks of spring, when the air is damp enough to carry scent but still cool enough to keep the leather from overheating. Picture a long wool coat over bare legs, the kind of morning where the wind cuts clean and the day feels wide open. The floral accord never goes powdery or sweet here: jasmine sambac and osmanthus give it a slightly bruised, realistic fruitiness, while violet leaf and rose pull it toward something green and ozonic rather than pretty.

It smells like the inside of a leather satchel that has been carried through a garden after rain, still holding a single orange wrapped in tissue and a handful of jasmine stems that have started to warm.
