Our take

Zoe opens with a sharp, dusty heat. Nutmeg and cumin hit first, dry and slightly rough, while saffron wraps the spice in a faint metallic glow. It is not a smooth entrance. The initial minutes feel abrasive, almost scratchy, as the spices refuse to blend quietly. Bergamot tries to lift the top, but the tea in the heart pulls everything back into a warm, bitter steep. This is a fragrance that walks into a dim room and changes the temperature.

The mood settles into a heavy, resinous wood. Oud and patchouli take over, dark and earthy, supported by a thick amber that feels dense rather than sweet. Sandalwood smooths the edges just enough to keep the blend from turning completely tar-like. It suits a late evening where the air is still and the lighting is low, a scent for someone comfortable occupying a heavy, unapologetic space. The powdery green facet in the background prevents it from becoming suffocating.

Fabrizio Tagliacarne composed a scent that demands patience. The transition from the harsh spice to the deep wood is long, and the cumin can read as sweaty on the wrong skin. It lacks a bright, clean counterweight to balance the heavy resins. The abrasive opening lingers longer than welcome, making the early wear a challenge for anyone sensitive to pungent spices.
