Character
A narrow side street after the sun has gone, windows fogged and the air cool enough to see breath. Zouzelle & Saturn’s Return moves through that air with myrrh and jasmine, their resinous white petals softened by coriander and pink pepper. The spices do not bite. They hover near the skin, a quiet heat that follows the wearer without announcing itself to the whole pavement.
Cashmere musk and musk sit beside cedar, a clean wood that keeps the florals from floating away entirely. The blend feels herbal and balsamic, sweet but tempered by amber and a faint powdery dryness. It is a fragrance that stays close, present to the person wearing it and to anyone who leans in, never stretching far beyond that small circle.
The composition holds together for a reasonable span before the sillage draws back and the scent settles nearer still. It fits a night when the air is crisp and the year is somewhere between winter and spring, or deep into fall, when layers are necessary and the walk home is slow.
Kyle Mott-Kannenberg composed this 2018 release for OSM as a unisex scent that feels like standing near a lit candle on a wooden table, wax pooling slowly around the wick.
