Our take

Bergamot and mandarin orange open Midnight Poison quickly and just as quickly recede, making room for a rose that carries most of the fragrance's identity. It is a dark, patchouli-backed rose rather than a fresh one, warmed by amber and vanilla until it feels almost syrupy without turning cloying. Very little of the citrus survives past the first few minutes.

There is very little daylight in this fragrance, in character or in practice; the citrus opening barely registers before the rose and patchouli take command, and the whole thing feels built specifically for after dark. Anyone expecting a soft, powdery rose from the name alone will be surprised by how much weight the amber and patchouli actually carry underneath it, turning what could have been delicate into something considerably heavier.

Midnight Poison belongs to winter darkness, not daylight, and once it lands it clings to skin and fabric long after application, with a sillage that has real reach, noticed by people before you've said a word. Dark red turning to black at the edges, like a flower left too long in wine, is the nearest image for the rose and patchouli that remain once everything else has faded.
