Our take

Vetyverio opens with a bright citrus peel, grapefruit and lemon snapping cleanly across the wrist before the florals step in. The heart is where the story turns curious: geranium and a faint rose dusted with carrot seed and nutmeg, like a gardener’s hands after pruning a rose bush and pulling up wet carrots. The vetiver underneath is not the smoky, dark root you might expect from the name it is polished, almost suave, wrapped in musk and cedar until it sits on skin like a whisper. That is the whole point and the whole problem. This is a vetiver for people who do not actually want to smell like vetiver. It is refined, natural enough, and very much in the niche lane of Diptyque’s gentle poetry, but the numbers do not lie: longevity barely reaches three hours, sillage is a polite arm’s length at best. You will spend more time reapplying than enjoying the drydown. Who suits this? The person who wants a quiet, floral woody scent that says “I smell interesting” without demanding attention. Perfect for a spring morning on a terrace or a soft summer lunch. Skip it if you need a vetiver that bites, or if you want your perfume to outlast your coffee. After all, what is the point of a lovely garden if it vanishes before you finish the walk? 🌿
