Our take

Patchouli takes the lead in Gyan, bringing a dark, leafy richness that feels polished and deliberate. Jasmine Sambac slips through the opening with a creamy white-floral glow, while incense adds a dry thread of smoke. The effect is warm and resinous, with an earthy pull that gives the fragrance a serious, dressed-up character. Picture a polished wooden prayer box opened beside a curl of incense smoke, its surface warmed by amber light.

As Gyan settles, the patchouli gains depth and texture. It has a dense, balsamic quality, softened by the jasmine’s smooth petals and sharpened by the incense. The blend feels masculine without leaning harsh, and its woody frame gives the sweetness a quiet, controlled shape. Gyan is long-lasting, with the drydown holding its form as the brighter floral lift recedes. Its sillage creates a modest bubble, close enough for conversation and personal space while still giving the wearer a clear presence.

The later stages are where this Bvlgari shows its appeal. Patchouli becomes darker and earthier, incense turns more resinous, and amber leaves a warm skin impression around the woods. That finish has patience and weight, making the scent especially fitting for evening occasions, formal settings, and thoughtful dinners. It can also work in spring or summer when worn with restraint, while autumn and winter suit its richer mood most naturally. Launched in 2016 and composed by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, Gyan offers a composed choice for someone drawn to incense, patchouli, and refined warmth.
