Interlude Woman
Fragrance notes
Character
Incense and leather dominate the memory of Interlude Woman long after the bottle's put away, even though neither one opens it. Marigold, ginger and grapefruit start things off bright and a little bitter, an odd, almost vegetal top that gives no hint of the dense, smoky heart waiting underneath.
That heart is enormous: incense, walnut, immortelle, kiwi, honey, opoponax, coffee, sandalwood, rose, orange blossom and jasmine all layered together, dense enough to smell like a spice market in full trade, not any single flower or spice standing apart.
Leather, oud and benzoin take the base somewhere darker still, amber, tonka bean and oakmoss adding a dry, smoky sweetness that never quite turns gourmand despite the honey and coffee in the heart. Vanilla and musk are present but restrained, a quiet finish under all that leather and resin.
It sticks around for a genuinely long stretch, still readable well after a lighter fragrance would have faded out completely, and the sillage it throws has real reach, announcing itself before anyone gets close enough to place the notes individually. It comes into its own on cold nights, when heavy coats and biting air give the leather and incense room to sit dense and smoky instead of thinning out in warmth.
