The grapefruit cuts through with a citrusy slap, but this is no fresh start, it is a controlled chaos where every note seems to arrive late and loud. As it develops, the heart turns syrupy and resinous, myrrh and labdanum melting into a sticky amber backdrop, while cinnamon and patchouli add a dark, almost medicinal warmth. The dry down is where Overture Man earns its reputation: smoke and leather rise from the ashes, animalic notes lurk like a well fed wolf, and sandalwood provides a creamy anchor. This is a gentleman who has been up for three days straight, his silk tie loosened, his breath a mix of expensive cognac and cheap regret, but he still holds the room. It feels heavy and dense, leaning synthetic in the spices but natural in the smoky base, more niche than mainstream, though its sillage is moderate, not a bomb. The longevity is excellent, easily eight hours, but the intensity can feel exhausting on a hot day. Wear it to a leather clad bar in autumn, or to a late night negotiation where you plan to win.
