Our take

Grapefruit and fig leaf open Dylan Blue on a sharp, bitter citrus note, with water notes adding a faint aquatic edge underneath and grapefruit doing most of the early work. The opening stays clean and sharp, nothing sweet about it yet, and it holds that character for longer than most citrus openings manage.

Ambroxan and black pepper carry the middle, joined by papyrus and violet leaf for a dry, slightly woody texture, while patchouli deepens it without pushing the fragrance into anything heavy. Incense and saffron give the base a warm, smoky quality, and tonka bean and musk round it out into something soft underneath all that spice.

Sillage settles as a modest bubble, and longevity holds at a moderate, average level, a fair trade for a fragrance this light on its feet. It leans toward spring and summer, though the incense and saffron give it enough weight for a cooler evening too. Saffron ends up being the base's most distinct note, warm against all that citrus up top, and papyrus adds a faint dry paper quality alongside the wood in the middle.
