Cardamom alone opens Le Male Le Parfum, spicy and a little sharp, which is an unusually narrow start for a fragrance built on so few notes total. Lavender and iris take the heart from there, and the whole thing turns powdery almost immediately once it settles on skin. Longevity sits long-lasting, and the sillage stays modest, close enough to notice on a shared elevator ride but no further than that.
Vanilla, oriental notes and woodsy notes give the base a warm, rounded finish, though never as heavy as the vanilla alone might suggest.
Violet and amber round the powdery character further, giving it a slightly vintage, barbershop-adjacent feel that not every fragrance still attempts these days. The aromatic lavender never fully steps aside for the sweeter base notes, holding its ground against the vanilla and amber underneath it. Cooler seasons suit it best, worn somewhere formal enough to match the seriousness of the composition itself.
Three notes per layer is a tight brief, and the fragrance mostly delivers on it, though the iris and lavender pairing will read familiar to fans of the wider genre.
