Scandal By Night
Fragrance notes
Character
Honey and bitter orange open Scandal By Night on a strange, likeable tension, thick sweetness pulled sideways by real citrus bite. Pear and cherry slide in early, giving the opening a candied, syrupy fruit character before tuberose and orange blossom widen it into something more floral. Nard Himalayan sits underneath the white flowers, adding a green, bitter edge that cuts the syrup toward ripe fruit skin instead of jam.
The heart holds tuberose at its center, heady and a little indolic, orange blossom and pear rounding it into something warmer and softer. It is a loud fragrance at this stage, unapologetically sweet, and anyone sensitive to heavy white florals should test it first.
Where Scandal By Night earns its reputation is in the base. Tonka bean and vanilla move in first, thick and warm, before patchouli and sandalwood add a dusty counterpoint. Amberwood deepens things further, and white musk smooths the structure into something clinging to fabric long after the fruit has faded. Hold is strong, settling into a dense amber shape and staying put. The sillage announces itself before you finish a greeting.
Scandal By Night wants a night out, fall and winter especially, when the honey and amber feel richest against cool air. By the time the vanilla settles, sweetness has given way to something darker and resinous.
