Secret d'Essences Neroli keeps its structure deliberately simple: bitter orange and petitgrain up top, neroli and orange blossom in the heart, musk underneath and nothing else competing for attention. The petitgrain brings a slightly bitter, leafy green note, more twig and leaf than fruit, that runs underneath the citrus the whole way through. That restraint means the staying power sits at an average level, and the presence never grows past a small, private bubble around the wearer, more a personal habit than a statement.
What it lacks in complexity, it makes up for in clarity. This smells like neroli done honestly, bitter and green, the way orange blossoms smell right after rain. The musk at the base is barely there, just enough to give the citrus and orange blossom something to sit on without adding any weight of its own. Wear it on bright spring or summer days, when the citrus and green facets feel most alive; it has little to offer once the weather turns cold, working best as a quick, easy layer rather than a scent built to carry a whole evening.
