Chouette Vierge No. 9
Fragrance notes
Character
Chouette Vierge No. 9 opens with bitter almond and black cherry, joined by a sharp lift of black pepper and pine tree. Bay leaf and nutmeg add a green, kitchen-spice edge, while neroli and liquor give the entrance a bright, slightly boozy snap. The effect is dark and fruity at once, with the almond keeping the cherry from leaning fully into candy.
The middle deepens into Turkish rose and ylang-ylang, with osmanthus and plum adding a soft, golden fruitiness. Champaca and jasmine sambac bring a heavy floral weight, while geranium and poppy keep the heart from becoming too rounded. Cherry returns here, tying the top to the center, and the overall impression stays warm, spicy, and distinctly floral without losing its initial bite.
Cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla move through the base alongside Peru balsam and benzoin, creating a thick, resinous foundation. Sandalwood, cedar, and vetiver add dry wood, while patchouli and leather give a faintly earthy roughness. Civet and tonka bean round the bottom with a sweet, animal warmth. It fits a cold evening walk under heavy coats, or anyone who wants a spicy, resin-heavy floral that stays close to the skin.
