Our take

Past the initial guava-and-pear sweetness, Gucci by Gucci Eau de Parfum settles fast into something denser. Guava and pear don't stay long at the front, more a quick introduction than a real presence once patchouli and honey take hold. Tiare flower gives the heart a creamy, tropical white floral quality, less crisp than a typical fruity opening would suggest. Patchouli, honey and musk take over in the base, earthy and warm, honey adding a sticky, slightly animal sweetness against the dry patchouli.

Staying power is long-lasting, the patchouli-honey base holding its warmth with real persistence. Sillage sits as a modest bubble, dense and close, felt strongly by anyone within easy reach. Fall and winter are where it truly belongs, the honey and patchouli feeling out of step with anything warm or bright, and it leans hard toward night over day.

Ilias Ermenidis built something richer and darker than the fruity opening lets on, patchouli doing most of the heavy lifting by the finish. It's an unusual choice for a fruity top note to lead somewhere this dark, and that contrast is the most memorable thing about it. It rewards cold weather and dim light, honeyed and a little animal by the finish, warm in a way that asks for a heavy coat rather than a light jacket.
