Our take

Aqua Allegoria Jasminora opens with a brisk slap of green galbanum and bergamot, the cyclamen lending a soapy, almost cold-pressed crispness. It feels like the first bite into a tart green apple, all snap and no sugar. Then the florals arrive, but this is no creamy jasmine soliflore. Thierry Wasser’s jasmine is a sheer white sheet pulled tight over lily-of-the-valley and freesia, starched and slightly metallic, never sweet or indolic. The dry down retreats into a clean musk and amber so faint you’ll wonder if you’ve gone anosmic. With longevity barely scraping three hours and sillage hovering near skin, Jasminora is a whisper on the breeze, a ghost of a gardenia’s cousin. It paints one vivid image: a freshly laundered linen blouse drying on a line after a spring rain, the floral scent slowly evaporating off the cotton. This is a fresh, mainstream floral, leaning green, utterly natural in feel but synthetic in its restraint. It suits someone who wants a polite, office-safe jasmine that won’t announce itself two cubes away. Skip it if you crave depth, warmth, or even a moderate projection. Wear it on a cool May morning, a spritz before brunch, but don’t expect it to last through the main course. After all, who needs a fragrance that clings when a light rinse and a sigh will do?
