Our take

Grapefruit is the whole personality of Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune in its first minutes, bitter and true to the actual fruit rather than the candied version most citrus fragrances reach for. Bergamot backs it up without adding much of its own character, content to let the grapefruit lead.

Neroli and petitgrain bring a green, slightly bitter floral quality into the heart, keeping the composition rooted in real citrus and away from a sugary cologne feel. Cassia adds a whisper of warm spice underneath, faint but present if you go looking. Patchouli and vanilla close things out, a soft, low base that never really competes with the citrus for attention.

Longevity is average, present at a fair pace without turning stubborn, and sillage stays modest, a tart cloud that clears just enough space for you to notice it yourself. Summer is this fragrance's entire reason for existing, worn on hot days when actual grapefruit is the most refreshing thing imaginable. Jean-Paul Guerlain and Mathilde Laurent built something closer to a squeezed fruit than to a traditional perfume, and Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune is better for that honesty.
