Our take

Amore Caffè smells almost exactly like its name: fresh coffee and amaretto over what reads unmistakably like ice cream and speculoos, spiced cookie crumbs folded into a scoop of vanilla. Mancera doesn't pretend otherwise; this is a gourmand built to smell edible, and it succeeds almost too well right out of the bottle. There is no citrus, no green lift, nothing to cut the richness early on, just coffee stacked directly on top of dessert.

Brown sugar, vanilla and ambergris deepen the base and keep the whole thing rich instead of sugary and thin, the wear settling in for the long haul once the initial coffee blast calms down, and the sillage stays modest too, that same vanilla and ambergris giving off a warm, sugared breath that lingers close around the wearer, felt more than broadcast. Cooler weather suits it best, fall sliding straight into winter, and it works best worn in the evening when a little indulgence feels appropriate, somewhere between an after-dinner espresso and dessert itself. The coffee and amaretto give it a bitter, roasted edge that grounds all that sweetness, more breakfast pastry than straightforward confection.
