Indompté
Fragrance notes
Character
Olivier Cresp’s Indompté opens with a slash of Sicilian mandarin so sharp it could cut glass, but the citrus fades fast, leaving you alone with two beasts: leather and agarwood. The leather is dry, grainy, almost dusty, like the inside of an old saddle that’s been worn by somebody who doesn’t flinch. The oud is mercifully restrained, not barnyard or medicinal, just a warm, smoky hum that darkens the leather into something animalic and primal. The dry down is the real story. What started as a citrus crackle becomes a smoldering hide, still carrying a faint resinous sweetness from the mandarin’s ghost. The overall character is a leather jacket that smells of both rebellion and restraint, a scent that feels more niche than mainstream because it refuses to apologize for its roughness. But the numbers are honest about its weaknesses: sillage sits at a modest three and longevity barely pushes past three and a half hours before it becomes a skin scent. This is not a projector. It is a quiet, confident companion for fall and winter nights, best worn when you want to feel sharp without shouting. It suits the person who dresses in dark layers and doesn’t need compliments, but it will disappoint anyone expecting a beastly oud bomb or a sparkling all day citrus. Indompté is a leather glove left in a cold car, warming slowly against your palm. 🖤
