Cassia and star anise give the opening a warm, slightly licorice-like spice, lemon verbena cutting through with a clean citrus brightness that balances the spice from the very first minute. Rose takes over fast in the heart, joined by peony and magnolia, building a full, dewy floral that reads fresh more than sweet.
Taif rose deepens things in the base, and musk and vanilla add warmth without turning the composition into a gourmand, patchouli providing a little grounding underneath all that rose. Dominique Ropion, Sophie Labbe, and Carlos Benaïm composed it together in 2003, layering two different rose notes to give the drydown extra texture. The persistence keeps most of its shape as the citrus opening fades, carrying the rose through into the drydown, and the sillage stays a soft bubble, noticed by whoever stands close.
This adapts to whatever the weather offers, cool mornings or a warmer afternoon alike, and suits both day and evening depending on how much rose you want to lean into. It is a generous, unmistakably rosy floral, treating flowers as the main event rather than a supporting note, cassia and star anise doing just enough at the start to give the whole thing a spiced edge before the roses take over.
