Absolu
Fragrance notes
Character
Absolu opens with a sharp bite that can feel abrasive if you expect a smooth entrance. The pink pepper and ginger arrive with a dry, scratchy heat that borders on harsh before the rest of the composition catches up. It is not a gentle introduction, and some will find the initial spray too prickly to enjoy.
The spice settles into a warm, resinous heart where amber and coriander soften the edges. Nutmeg lingers from the opening, weaving through the amber to create a cozy, rounded middle. The aromatic quality keeps the sweetness grounded, preventing the fragrance from becoming a flat gourmand as the vanilla begins to peek through.
In a dimly lit room with steam rising from a cup of chai, the base reveals itself. Vanilla and tonka bean provide a creamy, powdery depth, while patchouli adds an earthy, balsamic shadow. The woody accords anchor the sweetness, making the air feel heavy and intimate. It is a scent that wraps around the skin like a thick wool scarf.
The glow of a single streetlamp hits the damp pavement outside, reflecting the amber liquid in the bottle sitting on the table.
