Midnight Leather
Fragrance notes
Character
Midnight Leather opens with a bright, tangy burst of blood orange, spiked with the peppery heat of ginger and the green, slightly medicinal edge of coriander. It is a sharp, energetic start that feels modern and assertive rather than traditionally citrusy. The leather emerges quickly in the heart, but it is not the polished, refined leather of a luxury car interior. It smells rough and textured, like a well worn jacket, softened by the clean, pine like sharpness of juniper and the dry, mineral snap of flint. This combination gives the scent a rugged, outdoorsy character. The base is a dense, dark brew of vetiver, patchouli, coffee, and tobacco. The coffee note is particularly noticeable, lending a bitter, roasted depth that grounds the earthy patchouli and smoky tobacco. It is a heavy, masculine blend that leans into its darker, more animalic tendencies. The blood orange and ginger create a fascinating tension with the smoky, dirty base notes, preventing the scent from becoming a flat, one dimensional leather fragrance. It smells expensive but intentionally unkempt, projecting an image of someone who is put together but doesn't care to look it. The flint note is a clever touch, adding a spark of metallic dryness that cuts through the richness of the tobacco and vetiver. However, the composition does feel a bit crowded. The transition from the bright, spicy top to the heavy, animalic base is somewhat abrupt, and the coffee can become a little too bitter and overwhelming, masking the more subtle leather and juniper nuances as it sits on the skin.
