Our take

After Hours opens with a glossy burst of black currant and pear, all sharp fruit and dewy sweetness, but it doesn’t linger in that bright register for long. The heart blooms quickly into a plush vanilla whipped cream cloud, where night blooming jasmine and freesia add a cashmere floral lift, soft rather than heady. Then comes the base: caramel warm and a little gooey, amberwood giving it a polished sheen, and patchouli that grounds everything in a gently dusky, almost boozy backdrop. The overall character is a velvet chaise lounge in a dimly lit lounge, plush, indulgent, and thoroughly feminine, but the sillage stays close, more like a personal aura than a room filler. This is a synthetic gourmand done well, not cloying, but the longevity is frankly disappointing, barely three hours before you’re reaching for a reapply. It suits someone who wants a cozy, sweet floral for a night out, preferably fall or winter evenings when the warmth can cling to skin and scarf. Skip it if you need projection or all-day endurance. And really, why launch a fragrance called After Hours that evaporates before the last call? Perfect for a date night snuggle or a bedtime spritz, but not for dancing till dawn.
