Our take

Agape by V Canto is a chocolate fragrance that belongs in bright daylight. The opening pairs Calabrian bergamot and Sicilian orange with cocoa, and the citrus keeps the chocolate from collapsing into a heavy block. Sugar cane and bourbon vanilla add a clear sweetness, but the top notes stay loud enough to push the scent toward a sunny patio rather than a dim room. Black locust brings a pale floral thread that keeps the opening airy.

The heart settles into a warm, sugary center where patchouli and tonka bean meet the vanilla. This is the point where the fragrance feels most like a treat, yet the citrus from the start still hums underneath. The sweetness is real and unapologetic, so the composition asks the wearer to enjoy the sugar instead of hiding it. It is a direct, happy scent that does not pretend to be subtle.

Frankincense, cedar, and sandalwood enter with ambergris and oakmoss to give the base a resinous, woody floor. The chocolate and vanilla do not disappear, they simply rest on top of this sturdy foundation. The result is a gourmand that carries a proper forest edge, with the smoke of the frankincense and the dry pull of the oakmoss keeping the sugar from running wild.

Paolo Terenzi built a fragrance that treats chocolate as a bright material rather than a dark one, and the proof sits in how the bergamot and orange refuse to step aside once the vanilla and tonka bean arrive. The woody base supports the cocoa with resin and moss, so the sweetness always has a shadow to stand in
