Our take

Black Fire opens with a sharp rush of lemon, bergamot, and mandarin orange that feels bright and immediate. Cedar sits underneath those citrus peels from the first spray, giving the start a dry, woody edge instead of letting it lean fully into juice. The opening feels energetic and a bit loud, like a machine revving in a garage before the ride begins.

Once the spices arrive, coriander, nutmeg, and cardamom turn the blend warm and aromatic. The citrus does not vanish, but it steps back while the spices take the lead. Patchouli and amber move in underneath, supported by a thin ribbon of incense that adds a balsamic, smoky depth. The overall impression is masculine and assertive, with a resinous weight that suits cooler weather and evening wear.

The blend is unmistakably tied to its brand, and that is also where it stumbles. The materials smell more synthetic than natural, especially in the heart, where the spices lack the delicate shading found in more refined compositions. It wears its identity plainly, but it lacks the smoothness that would make it feel effortless rather than deliberately rugged.
