Black Rose
Fragrance notes
Character
Black Rose opens with a bright lift of bergamot that meets the prickly heat of Sichuan pepper and the cool, green bite of cardamom. The spices do not overwhelm the citrus. They give the entrance a dry, textured edge that feels deliberate and controlled.
The heart settles into a full damask rose that carries a dewy weight, supported by the clean, leafy sharpness of geranium. The flower here is not soft or romantic. It is dark and structured, leaning into the spices that came before it rather than washing them away.
The base pulls the composition into deeper territory. Leather and incense arrive with a dry, resinous smoke, while vetiver and patchouli add an earthy, woody foundation. White musk and ambergris smooth the edges, giving the drydown a subtle, skin-like warmth beneath the heavier materials.
Claudia Scattolini composed a fragrance that feels suited to a dimly lit room where leather chairs and burning resin define the air. The rose wears a dark coat and walks with a steady, grounded pace through that space.
