Carte Blanche opens with incense and saffron resting above a pale lily-of-the-valley. The spice feels dry and slightly medicinal, while the flower adds a clean, cool edge. Osmanthus and raspberry appear soon after, softening the start, but the heart stays anchored by amber rather than turning fully sweet.
The base gives the fragrance its real identity. Leather arrives with a supple, slightly animalic texture, and vanilla rounds the edges without taking over. Amber repeats here, deepening the warmth and pulling the leather and vanilla into a single, resonant accord.
Smoky and balsamic tones run through the drydown, joined by a powdery finish that keeps the blend from feeling heavy. The osmanthus lends a soft apricot hint, and the raspberry flickers in and out, but the leather and amber always lead. White floral traces remain, though they stay in the background.
The composition feels dense and rich, ideal for cold air and dim evenings. The limitation is the raspberry. It clashes with the leather at times, adding a synthetic sharpness that distracts from the smooth amber and vanilla beneath it.
