Red currant gives Cassili a tart, slightly sour opening, unusual for a fragrance this sweet underneath, before Bulgarian rose and unnamed floral notes soften the edges. Plum, frangipani, petalia and mimosa carry the heart, tropical and fruity, leaning more toward a sun-warmed fruit stand than a rose garden. Mimosa in particular gives the heart a slightly powdery, almost almond-like sweetness.
Vanilla, tonka bean and sandalwood settle in at the base, sweet and a little powdery, rounding off the sour opening into something considerably softer in the drydown. Staying power is average, a fair hold with no real theatrics, and throw is soft, a small cloud that never strays far from the skin.
Spring and summer daylight suit it best, easy to wear to work or out for the afternoon without asking too much attention. It suits anyone who wants tart fruit balanced against floral sweetness rather than something straightforwardly sweet, though the sourness up top never fully returns once the vanilla and tonka settle in. Red currant and rose stay longest in the mix, a handful of currants still warm from the bush, frangipani drifting in from a neighbor's garden.
