On the dry down, brown sugar and patchouli anchor the sweetness while agarwood and oud introduce a smoky, almost medicinal edge, all of it dusted with a powdery amber veil. The overall character is like a velvet jewelry box that once held a candied plum and a cheap cigar; rich, cloying, and a little confusing in its mix of gourmand and dark wood.
The sweetness is dense and syrupy, more synthetic leaning than natural, which fits its price point and mainstream ambition. With longevity settling around three and a half hours and sillage hugging close after the first hour, it’s a fragrance that whispers rather than shouts, perfect for a winter evening by the fireplace but underwhelming if you crave projection. You could wear this to a holiday party or an intimate dinner in November, but skip it if you dislike sweet scents tainted by leather or oud, or if you want to smell like actual vanilla beans rather than a factory’s idea of a sugar rush.
