Our take

Devil's Share opens with a bright spray of orange and black currant that carries a cool thread of mint through the top. Pine adds a green edge that keeps the fruit from feeling heavy. The heart moves quickly into beeswax and honey, thick and golden, with bourbon whiskey lending a dry, boozy warmth. Nutmeg and cloves bring a gentle heat that sits beside the caramel without letting it become cloying. The whiskey note reads as a dry spirit rather than a sugary syrup, which keeps the middle from collapsing into a single sweet idea.

Tobacco leaf and vanilla anchor the base, supported by oak and cacao pod that add a dry, woody depth. The cacao is earthy rather than chocolatey, and the vanilla stays quiet behind the tobacco. Beeswax and honey linger through the drydown, so the sweetness never fully disappears, only settles closer to the skin. The overall impression is warm and resinous, suited to a room lit by a single lamp and the quiet of a cold night, where the air is still and the scent feels like part of the space.
