Five O'Clock Au Gingembre takes its name from teatime, and the opening earns it: black tea and bergamot smell genuinely like a fresh cup, tannic and a little bitter, before cinnamon and candied ginger arrive and turn the whole thing warm and spiced, well past merely aromatic. Woodsy notes thicken the middle, and pepper, honey, amber, cacao, and patchouli build the base, adding warmth while the tannic bite from the tea stays present underneath. The whole thing smells more like a spice cabinet than a confection, dry and warm rather than sugary, even with honey and cacao both present in the formula.
