Freya opens with a briny splash of sea notes and tart citrus, like stepping onto a damp Nordic shore in early morning. The water recedes quickly, leaving behind a tangle of wildflowers, crushed green stems, and a shy ginger warmth that keeps the floral heart from turning precious. Rose and lily-of-the-valley are present but never shout they are simply the polite guests at a garden party hosted by cedar and dry sandalwood. The overall picture is a wildflower meadow growing right up to the edge of a salt-washed cliff, the breeze carrying both petals and brine. It feels fresh and natural, slightly synthetic in its marine accord (that splash never quite smells like real ocean), but the composition is well balanced, a cheerful mainstream floral green that knows its place. The nose, Philippe Bousseton, clearly aimed for an easy, wearable freshness, and he succeeded within limits.
And here are the limits: longevity hovers around three hours, sillage barely a soft halo. You will need to respray, and that is its chief weakness. Freya is best worn on a cool spring morning or a bright winter day, when the crisp notes feel invigorating rather than thin. It suits a woman who wants something pleasant and inoffensive, a scent for errands, coffee with friends, or a day at the office. Those who crave projection, depth, or an evening statement should skip it. Is it a masterpiece? No, but it is a perfectly lovely, unassuming floral that does exactly what it sets out to do, no more, no less.
