Dry and a little earthy from the first spray, Guilty Absolute Pour Femme resists the fruity-floral formula its blackberry top note seems to promise. Pink pepper and bergamot sharpen the opening further, and once cypress and vetiver settle into the heart, the blackberry fades into a faint shadow behind them, hardly there at all. It is an odd, slightly severe start for something built around a berry, and that oddness is what makes the composition worth paying attention to.
Bulgarian rose adds a soft, faintly sweet counterpoint to all that green woodiness, never quite taking over the way rose does in more overtly floral scents. Indian patchouli and amber round out the base, earthy and warm rather than sweet, giving the whole thing a low, grounded finish.
Wear time runs a middling course, not the kind of scent that clings, not the kind that vanishes either. The vetiver-tinged trail stays modest and close, the sort of thing a person standing near enough would pick up right away. Cool, overcast weather suits it best, when the earthy, woody side of the composition has more to work against than summer heat allows.
