Our take

Imperial Soap opens with a damp, green Turkish rose that feels pulled straight from a shaded garden. Oakmoss adds a cool, slightly bitter edge that keeps the flower from leaning sweet. It smells like a bar of expensive soap left on a stone ledge after rain. The opening is clean but has an earthy weight that signals this is not a simple fresh scent.

Jasmine and orange blossom arrive in the heart, soft and creamy against a firm lavender backbone. The lavender here is dry and herbal rather than powdery. These white florals do not float above the base. They sink into it, creating a thick, resinous middle that feels dense and slightly smoky.

The foundation is where Imperial Soap reveals its wild side. Castoreum and natural musk bring a heavy animalic warmth that rubs against the smooth sandalwood and dark Thailand oud. The leather and mossy accords anchor the entire composition. It is a bold mix that feels raw and unpolished in the best way.

Mathew Schmuelian composed a scent that wears like a second skin for those who enjoy dirty florals and heavy woods. It fits a quiet evening where the air is cool and the mood is introspective.
