Character
The opening hits hard with black pepper and saffron, a sharp sting that can feel abrasive if you press your nose too close to the skin. It is a bold start that does not ask for permission. In a narrow stone courtyard behind a cafe, the air is cold enough that every breath feels crisp. A man stands near the iron table, his scarf pulled up high. The green mandarin cuts through the chill first, bright and brief, before the saffron wraps around it with a deep, medicinal heat. Jasmine floats above the spice, soft and white against the grey sky.
Turkish rose soon joins the saffron, lending a dark, velvety texture to the air around him. Amber and patchouli ground the flower, creating a resinous cloud that feels heavy in the winter wind. The scent sits close to his coat, mixing with the smell of damp wool and cold stone. There is a distinct animalic edge here, a roughness that keeps the rose from ever feeling romantic or delicate. It is a rugged floral, supported by the sharp bite of the pepper that refuses to fully fade into the background of the composition.
Benzoin and vanilla begin to melt into the fabric of the scarf, sweetening the sharper spices without losing the masculine edge. Leather emerges last, dry and worn, suggesting the old chair inside the cafe and the smoke that lingers near the doorway. The vanilla is thick, almost resinous, blending with the amber to create a golden warmth against the cold brick wall. He shifts his weight, the scent moving with him as the patchouli adds its damp earthiness to the mix, the leather and vanilla intertwining with the fading jasmine
