Fabrice Pellegrin composed this 2017 release for Collistar as a study in resinous restraint. The incense note arrives early, joining the pepper with a grey, curling presence that never becomes sooty. Labdanum adds a golden, sticky weight that pulls the fragrance toward skin, while styrax contributes a deep, leathery hum.
Guaiac wood and patchouli form the foundation, giving the scent a dark, earthy floor. The patchouli here is more root than leaf, lending an organic density that pairs well with the smoky accord.
