Character
This opens with a bright, peppery slap of coriander and cardamom, the bergamot adding a citrusy zing that cuts through the spice like a blade of light. Within minutes, though, the heart swells into a heavy, almost cloying bouquet of rose, jasmine, and ylang-ylang, a floral crush that feels more like a greenhouse in July than a spring garden. The drydown pulls it together with a patchouli base that’s earthy and dry, softened by musk and a whisper of vanilla, but it never fully sheds its dense, syrupy weight. The overall character is that of a velvet rope at a bougie hotel: plush, expensive, and slightly suffocating.
This is a chypre floral that leans decidedly mainstream in structure, but the execution feels oddly synthetic in the mid notes, with a jammy rose that lacks the natural dewy nuance a higher price point might warrant. Longevity is solid at nearly four hours, sillage moderate, though it clings to fabric with an unapologetic tenacity. It suits a woman who wants to be noticed in a boardroom or at a fall wedding, preferably when the air already smells of wood smoke and wool. Skip it if you prefer airy, transparent florals or anything with a modern minimalist edge. Best reserved for crisp autumn evenings or winter dinners, but wear it in spring only if you’re prepared for that heavy embrace to follow you indoors like an unwanted date.
