Nota Sugar
Fragrance notes
Character
Nota Sugar opens like a piña colada left too long in the sun, the pineapple sharp and acetonic against a slick of caramel and a whisper of coconut that feels more suntan lotion than fresh nut. It is aggressively sweet from the first spray, a confectionary blast that promises a sugar rush and delivers exactly that. The heart pulls raspberry and vanilla into a jammy, almond-dusted center, but the fruit here is cooked and cloying, not bright. On my skin, the drydown lands on a powdery heliotrope and tonka that softens the edges into something faintly plush, like a Marshmallow Peep left out overnight. This is a fragrance built for a specific moment: a bright summer morning, a brunch dress, a crop top. It is unapologetically girlish and very much a daytime scent. The longevity is a disappointment, barely three hours before it sinks into a skin-level musk, and the sillage is so shy you will find yourself spraying with abandon. Who wants to rebuy a bottle every six weeks? That said, if you crave a cheerful, foodie vanilla that asks nothing of you, Nota Sugar will sit happily on a vanity as a mood booster. But for the price, skip it if you expect presence or complexity. This scent is a gumball, not a gourmand.
