Omen
Fragrance notes
Character
Omen by Manos Gerakinis can feel crowded when the first spray lands. Bay leaf and apple rush out beside saffron, and the kitchen herb note sits awkwardly next to the fruit. It reads busy rather than layered, as if too many ideas arrived at once. Balsam fir and jasmine try to lift the top, but the green sharpness of the bay leaf refuses to step back.
The room is a wood-panelled study with a cold draft near the window. Someone is wearing Omen while reading at a heavy table. Buchu adds a pungent, almost medicinal edge to the fir, while leather and oud build a dark floor beneath the seat. Amber and tonka bean warm the air, and a trace of ambergris gives the space a salty, animalic breath. The scent fits the quiet hour, spicy and aromatic, though the opening still feels cluttered.
That herbal bite never fully settles into the richer base. The apple turns faint, yet the bay leaf remains loud among the amber and musk. Miguel Matos composed a fragrance that carries real depth, but the first impression stays untidy. Omen rewards patience, even if the start asks too much of the person sitting nearby.
