Paragon opens with lavender, sage, and bergamot together, herbal and citrus-bright at once, closer to a walk through dry Mediterranean scrub than a typical fresh-fougere start.
Plum and black pepper move in for the heart, giving the herbal opening some fruit and spice to push against, while palo santo brings its own sweet, resinous woodiness into the mix, thickening the middle of the fragrance considerably.
By the base, sandalwood and agarwood settle the whole composition into something warmer and more resinous, the fruit and pepper fading back to let the wood lead. It sticks around for a long while once it settles, and what projects stays close-range, picked up by whoever you're near rather than spreading through wherever you are.
Paragon works across most of the year, best in transitional weather when the herbal top notes have room to be sharp without wilting in summer heat, and it suits an office setting as comfortably as a dinner reservation, without feeling mismatched in either. The lavender keeps a herbal thread running the whole way through, which is the part that gives it a coherent, considered feel.
