Our take

Patchouli by Parfum THE LAB asks a lot of patience from anyone who dislikes a sharp herbal opening. Coriander and bergamot hit first with a brisk, almost medicinal edge that can feel abrasive against the soft peony and white flowers trying to bloom beside them. The aromatic start is loud in its own way, leaning into a fresh spicy character that does not immediately promise the smoother floral heart waiting underneath.

Jasmine and rose eventually settle the composition into a proper floral rhythm. The white floral accord carries a clean, dewy quality that keeps the scent from feeling heavy or dark. Patchouli enters slowly from the base, supported by incense and amber, but it never dominates the way its name suggests. Instead, it acts as a dusty, earthy anchor that grounds the petals without turning the blend into a resinous cloud.

The coriander remains the weak point throughout the wear. Even as the rose and jasmine gain strength, that initial herbal bite lingers in the background, creating a slight friction against the sweeter floral notes. It prevents the fragrance from achieving a seamless transition from top to base. If you are sensitive to pungent green herbs, this particular interpretation of patchouli will likely test your tolerance from the first spray to the last.
