Our take

Pure White Linen opens with a crisp snap of green notes and grapefruit, the fruit basket of apple, pear, and raspberry tossed in before the florals have a chance to sulk. That initial brightness is genuinely inviting, like the first minute of a spring morning. But the heart is where things get crowded. Red tulip, honeysuckle, jasmine, gardenia, tuberose, rose — it is a white floral bouquet that skips the aldehydes that made the original Linen famous, and instead rushes headlong into a powdery, slightly synthetic crush. The dry down settles on cedar and heliotrope, with patchouli adding a faint earthy anchor, but by then the perfume has already lost its nerve. The overall character is like a freshly ironed shirt left out in the rain: crisp ambition dampened by indistinct sweetness. With longevity and sillage hovering just below average, this feels more like a polite nod than a statement. It is mainstream in the safest sense, pleasant but not memorable. Best worn to a brunch where you want to smell clean without competing with the mimosas. Who should skip it? Anyone who wants their white floral to have backbone, or who has a cabinet already full of similar soapy scents. It is perfectly fine, and that is its real crime.
